Panerai Watch Sizing help with Straps and Buckles

The Ultimate Strap Fitting Guide For Panerai Watches...

How to get a perfect fit on straps for your Panerai Watch.

What size strap in width and length do I need for my Panerai Watch model?  It can be quite confusing to try to understand the differences in size for each Panerai model and the particular length that is best for your wrist.

The width of your strap depends upon the size of your Panerai watch.

Panerai

Uses a 22 mm strap

Panerai

44mm Luminor or Submersible

Uses a 24 mm strap

Panerai

47mm Luminor or Submersible

Uses a 26 mm strap

Panerai

45 or 47mm Radiomir (wire lugs)

Uses a 26 mm strap

If you are not sure which size watch you have, it's easy to measure the strap where it attaches to the watch.  It will be a 22, 24 or 26mm strap.

For your 40mm Panerai watch you need a 22mm strap width which is 22mm at the watch. For a 44mm Panerai you need a 24mm strap. And, for a 45 or 47mm Panerai watch you need a 26mm strap width.

40mm Panerai Watches use a 22/20 (22mm at the watch and 20mm at the Deployant buckle)

44mm Panerai Watches use a 24/22 (24mm at the watch and 22mm at the buckle)

45 or 47mm Panerai Watches use a 26mm strap but they all have different size buckles so they can be 26/22, 26/24 or 26/26...check your buckle width with a ruler to be sure.

Sounds easy?...now here is the "BUT"  A tang buckle goes on like the belt on your trousers.....it has 2 separate pieces.  A Deployant buckle goes on like a bracelet where it is attached and you slide your had through.

You CANNOT use a Tang strap on a Deployant buckle...but you can use a deployant strap on a tang buckle.

What is the length of the strap that I need?

The Panerai Watch Regular length strap BEFORE 2 years ago was 115/75mm. After that time they started making their straps in 125/75mm…..1 more hole.  That means 125mm on the side with the holes and 75mm on the side with the buckle.

If you measure your current strap and see which hole you are using out of the 7, it should tell you if you need a strap that is Longer, shorter or the exact same length. (The three bears approach - is it too long, too short or just right)

The OEM Panerai Straps are 125/75 (measured in millimeters) in length. 125mm on the side with the holes and 75mm on the buckle side.

Look at the bottom of your wrist and see where the buckle sits....if it is in the middle then 75mm is your size....if it is off to one side...measuring how much more or less you need for a proper fit.

On the long side, which hole are you using on the Panerai Strap?

If you are in the first, second or third hole from the pointed end you need a longer strap. No ands, ifs or buts. Some people use both keepers to help the strap in place and some prefer using only one. This will determine what length is best for you. if you are a perfect fit on the OEM strap, which is 115/75, you will need to order a little longer as TC and Mario Paci straps are thicker than the OEM and will fit "1 hole shorter."

Can I use any strap on my Deployant buckle?

Straps are usually 4 to 5mm thick at the watch case and on a deployant strap they get thinner, down to 2mm at the buckle so they can fit in the slot. A strap for a regular buckle stays pretty much the same thickness throughout. Our straps made with a sewn in buckle run 4.2 to 4.5mm thick. Our Pre-V by Mario Paci Straps are 3mm thick.

A tang buckle goes on like the belt on your trousers.....it has 2 separate pieces.  A Deployant buckle goes on like a bracelet where it is attached and you slide your hand through.

You CANNOT use a Tang strap on a Deployant buckle...but you can use a deployant strap on a tang buckle.
